Education Development Center

The department's service profile encompasses several key areas, beginning with educational quality assurance. This involves monitoring and inspecting the college and departments on academic standards, quality, and relevance in areas such as programs and modules, infrastructure and facilities, teaching and learning, and assessment practices. The department is also responsible for developing quality assurance guidelines and procedures in collaboration with academic staff, initiating and conducting institutional and program evaluations, and ensuring comprehensive data is gathered to enhance quality.

Another crucial aspect of the department's role is faculty development. This includes generating and disseminating knowledge relevant to healthcare providers, conducting need assessments, and providing training for academic staff in teaching, learning, assessment, and research activities. The department also conducts satisfaction surveys for both students and academic staff, providing and facilitating staff development workshops on academic quality assurance. Furthermore, the department plays a pivotal role in instructional design, curriculum development, review, and appraisal. It advises on the establishment of courses of instruction and curricula, monitors teaching processes, and evaluates the relevance of academic programs. It also establishes mechanisms for joint planning to engage stakeholders in curriculum design and development, ensuring continuous appraisal, analysis, and improvement of curricula within each department and unit.

  • Faculty development, E.g., Staff training on teaching-learning and assessment methods
  • Curriculum appraisal, revision and development
  • Simulation center (skills development lab) management
  • Educational quality management and evaluation, E.g., Assessing, analyzing and improving quality of education using educational standards
  • Conducting self-evaluation and accreditation report with updated DCT checklists
  • Resource/expert advice for faculty on teaching-learning, assessment, curriculum and research
Time Schedule
  • Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
  • Saturday - Sunday Closed
